General Manager

The 2008 season is the 24th year in professional baseball for SeaWolves General Manager John Frey. After joining the Erie franchise just prior to the 2000 season John finished his eigth year as the leader of the SeaWolves. Prior to his move up to the Class Double-A SeaWolves, Frey had a nine year run with the Greensboro Bats, the Class Single-A affiliate of the New York Yankees in the South Atlantic League. During Frey's tenure the Greensboro franchise was consistently among the South Atlantic League's attendance leaders despite playing in the country's oldest Minor League ballpark (1926). Before taking over as the Greensboro General Manager in 1993, Frey served two years as the Assistant General Manager for the then named Greensboro Hornets primarily responsible for team operations and concessions. From 1987 through the 1990 baseball season Frey served as the Assistant General Manager for the Class AA Midland Angels where he performed a variety of duties including accounting, concessions, sales, stadium operations, and full-time personnel manager. The Midland club set franchise attendance records in 1989 and 1990. Frey began his baseball career in 1985 by doubling the full-time staff size of the Class A Beloit Brewers as the team's first ever intern. Following the 1985 season he was hired as the team's full-time Assistant General Manager. Frey is originally from Prescott, Wisconsin located near Minneapolis, and graduated form the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Administration. He and his wife Kathy have three children: Joseph 18, Mary Elizabeth 18 and John Paul 15.
Mike Uden email Mike

The 2008 season will be Mike’s ninth season in minor league baseball and sixth overall with the Erie SeaWolves. His main responsibilities include selling and overseeing team sponsorship sales. The Massachusetts native received his undergraduate degree in Communications from the University of Massachusetts and his MBA degree from Robert Morris University. Mike is an avid sports fan and enjoys cheering on his Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Steelers and UMass Minutemen. Mike currently lives in Summit, PA with his wife Paula, and their two dogs Lexi and Bailey.

He graduated from the State University of New York at Cortland with a degree in Sport Management in the spring of 2000 and his responsibilities include organizing and implementing the SeaWolves marketing initiatives, selling corporate sponsorships, handling all in-game entertainment and production on gameday. He is a native of Victor, a suburb of Rochester, New York. |
Joe Etling email Joe
Director of Ticket Sales

Joe enters his fith season with the SeaWolves in 2008. He graduated from Edinboro University in 1996 with a B.S. in Business. Before joining the SeaWolves, he spent several years selling industrial equipment in the Erie area. Joe was also a season ticket holder for two years. His responsibilities will include selling season tickets, mini-ticket packages, discount ticket books, group outings, as well as corporate sponsorships. Joe resides in Edinboro.
Ragen Walker email Ragen

The 2008 season is the sixth for Ragen in minor league baseball, all with the Erie SeaWolves. Ragen is a December 2003 graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education concentrating in Sport Administration. Walker also completed his field study at Edinboro University in the spring of 2003. Ragen’s responsibilities for the SeaWolves include directing concessions, managing inventory, cleaning, ordering, supervising game-day operations, and staffing. Ragen is originally from Newport, a suburb of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania but currently resides in Millcreek with his new wife Marissa.

Becky Obradovic email Becky
Senior Ticket Sales Executive/Suite Coordinator

The 2008 season is Becky's sixth season with the Erie SeaWolves and her seventh season in professional baseball. Her responsibilities include suite sales and hospitality, as well as selling group and picnic packages, sponsorship packages, season tickets and mini-packs. Prior to the SeaWolves, she worked with several notable teams in the Cleveland area. During the 2002 baseball season, she interned in marketing and sales with the Akron Aeros. In addition, she has worked in sales with the Cleveland Cavaliers, as well as two seasons with the Cleveland Browns as a Game Day Marketing intern assisting with pre- and post-game events, on-field and in-seat promotions. She is a May 2002 graduate of Mount Union College (Alliance, OH) where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sport Management. Becky was born and raised in Bainbridge Township, Ohio (just outside of Cleveland), and currently resides in Erie.
Mark Pirrello email Mark
Director of Merchandise/Box Office Manager

The 2008 season is Mark's 13th season in professional baseball. He was a part-time concessions employee for the team for three seasons from 1996 through 1998. In 1999, Pirrello moved into the front office and worked as the Assistant Director of Concessions. Then in 2002, Mark was promoted to Director of Operations where his responsibilities consisted of managing all stadium concessions inventory, all merchandise inventory, ordering, operations, and gameday personnel. Beginning in 2004 Mark moved to the Box Office, currently managing the ticket operations and merchandise sales for the SeaWolves.
Greg Gania email Greg
Director of Media Relations/Team Broadcaster

The 2008 season is the 10th for Greg Gania in Minor League Baseball. Gania called all 142 Erie SeaWolves games on Jet Radio 1400. In addition, he served as the team’s Director of Media Relations. Prior to joining the SeaWolves, Gania spent seven seasons (1999-2005) with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Class-A Affiliate of the Cleveland Indians), the last three as the team’s Radio Broadcaster and Media Relations Assistant. He handled play-by-play duties for all 76 games of the New York-Penn League season and called the Scrappers 2004 NYPL Championship Series victory.
Gania graduated from Bowling Green State University in May 2005 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. While at Bowling Green, he was a member of the Bowling Green Radio Sports Organization, handling play-by-play duties for Football, Men’s Basketball, and flagship coverage of Women’s Basketball and Baseball. Gania had the privilege of calling the 2005 Bowling Green Women’s Basketball MAC Championship and their NCAA First Round tournament game.
Gania is a native of Warren, Ohio and currently resides in Erie.
Carol Trumbo email Carol
Marketing and Promotions Manager

2008 is Carol's third season in Minor League Baseball with the Erie SeaWolves. She graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in the spring of 2005 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Public Relations and Advertising. Her responsibilities include print design, special events and appearances, and managing in-game entertainment and gameday staff. She is originally from Hermitage, PA and currently resides in Harborcreek.
Eric Phillips email Eric
Operations Manager

The 2008 season will be Eric’s third in minor league baseball with the SeaWolves. He previously worked for the ‘Wolves in 2004-05. Eric is a graduate of Penn State Behrend where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and a minor in Management. Erie’s responsibilities include assisting the Director of Operations in concessions, inventory control, stadium cleanup, supply ordering and the supervision of game-day operations and staffing.
Eric is a native of Oil City, PA and currently resides in Erie.
Head Groundskeeper

An Erie native and Catherdral Prep graduate, Brandon Schanz has been the Head Groundskeeper at Jerry Uht Park for 4 seasons. Prior to being named the Head Groundskeeper position, he held the Assistant Head Groundskeeper under Pete Geddes for 5 seasons. Brandon began his career with the SeaWolves in 1995 in the operations department. A Yankees fan, he enjoys baseball and playing fantasy football.
Brad Fox, M.D.
Team Physician

Dr. Fox has worked with the SeaWolves as their Team Physician since their inception in 1995 after spending the 2 prior seasons with the Erie Sailors. Fox went to Cornell as an undergraduate and SUNY Syracuse Medical School before coming to Erie in 1991 where he completed a Family Medicine residency at Saint Vincent. When not at the Ballpark, he can be found at Liberty Family Practice located at 3413 Cherry Street.
David Mazzone email David
Head Security

Dave has been affiliated with Erie Professional Baseball since 1995. When not at the ballpark, Dave has been in Law Enforcement for 26 years. He is life time resident of Erie and has two children, Dave II and Christine. Dave spends his free time riding his Harley Davidson and listening to all of the greatest hits of Kenny Loggins and Boy George.
