Matt Joyce Gets The Call!

Former SeaWolf Matt Joyce called up to Detroit.
The Detroit Tigers today designated the contract of outfielder Jacque Jones for assignment. To take Jones’ spot on the club’s 25-man roster, the Tigers purchased the contract of outfielder Matt Joyce from Triple A Toledo.
Jones saw action in 24 games with the Tigers this season, batting .165 (13×79) with a home run and five RBI.
Joyce was hitting .299 (29×97) with 17 runs scored, six doubles, a triple, five home runs and 21 RBI in 28 games for Toledo. He hit safely in eight of his last 10 games with the Mud Hens, batting .389 (14×36) with seven RBI.
A 12th-round selection by the Tigers in the 2005 MLB First-Year Player Draft, Joyce will be making his major league debut and he will wear uniform number 20.
Joyce is the second member of the SeaWolves 2007 Southern Division Championship club who has been called up to the Tigers in the last week.
Over the weekend, relief pitcher Freddy Dolsi was also called to the Tigers. Dolsi had two saves in two opportunities for the SeaWolves in 2008.
