The Thunder added to the lead in the top of the third. Edwar Gonzalez singled with one out and Cody Ehlers connected on his team leading sixth home run to put Trenton ahead 4-1.

Erie would cut the Trenton lead down to a run in the bottom of the third. Will Rhymes led off with a single and Guzman walked to put a pair on for Worth. Worth hit into a fielder’s choice that retired Guzman at second leaving runners on the corners for Wilkin Ramirez. During the Ramirez at bat, a wild pitch moved Worth to second putting a pair in scoring position. Ramirez singled up the middle, bringing home Rhymes and Worth, making it 4-3 Thunder.

Trenton made it a two-run game in the top of the fourth when Kevin Russo connected on a one-out solo home run, his second, for a 5-3 advantage. They would go on to add a sixth run in the sixth when Austin Jackson singled home Muich for a three-run advantage at 6-3.

Erie would attempt a comeback in the bottom of the seventh. Guzman led off the inning with a walk and he stole second for his league leading 15th stolen base. Guzman scored on a two-out base hit by Deik Scram to make it 6-4.

The ‘Wolves would made it a one-run game at 6-5 in the bottom of the eighth. Max Leon and Caonabo Cosme each singled with one out. Guzman then connected on a hot shot through the legs of the Trenton third baseman Malec. The Malec error allowed Leon to score.

In the top of the ninth, the Thunder would put the game out of reach. Pena led off with a single. Jackson followed with a single and on the play, a throw to third in an attempt to get Pena allowed Jackson to move to second putting a pair in scoring position. The ‘Wolves then intentionally walked Colin Curtis to load the bases. Gonzalez grounded out to third but on the play, Pena scored with Leon’s only play at first base. A second intentional walk to Ehlers reloaded the bases for Tabata who connected on a sacrifice fly, scoring Jackson for an 8-5 lead. Trenton added one more run on a Malec double for a 9-5 lead.

Erie could only muster one single in the bottom of the ninth off of reliever Eric Wordekemper who picked up his fifth save of the season.
